Description: South African knifemaker Anton van der Westhuizen is from Port Elizabeth. He is an active member of the Knifemakers Guild of South Africa. Lately he has been creating high end, elegant folding knives using only the best modern materials available. We were excited when he asked if we could feature some of his work at BladeGallery while we were visiting at the annual Knifemakers' Guild of Southern Africa Show.
The harpoon tip wharnecliffe blade is made from stainless Grosse Rosen pattern damascus forged by Damasteel in Sweden. This high performing stainless damascus steel is created using powder metallurgical manufacturing to provide excellent edge retention and unmatched beauty. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. It is perfectly centered. Ceramic bearings ensure it has silky-smooth action.
The 6Al-4V titanium handle features a blacked out Cerakote finish. A sturdy framelock provides a strong lockup. Twin Timascus titanium damascus inlays are inlaid into the left scale. The backbar, pivot collar, and pocket clip are all made from matching Timascus. The pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
