Description: This Willem Steenkamp custom Zulu Spear slip joint is a fantastic utility folder. The spear point blade and ergonomic handle are perfectly designed and implemented.
Willem was accepted as a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA) in May of 2007. His attention to detail is clearly evident in his knives.
The 3 inch spear point blade is made from premium CPM154 stainless steel hardened to 61Hrc. The blade features a hand rubbed satin finish. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it! A hollow ground blade makes for an easy to maintain edge.
The blade is well centered with a firm half stop -- easily opened with the right handed thumb nick.
Handle scales are made from silver strike carbon fiber. This variation on lightning strike carbon fiber has silver toned wire woven through the carbon fiber mesh. A stainless steel escutcheon is meticulously inlaid into the left scale. The scales meet perfectly with 303 stainless steel bolsters.
Exceptional work throughout!
