Description: Journeyman Smith Scott Gallagher makes an exceptional knife. I was very excited when Mastersmith Bill Burke introduced me to Scott at the 2019 Blade Show in Atlanta. Scott's attention to detail was immediately visible in his exquisite knives. Makers that work in stone are becoming exceptionally rare these days and Scott is doing beautiful work.
The trailing point blade is made from Scott's own multi-bar damascus forged from 1084 and 15n20 carbon steels. The fine pattern is extremely engaging and will have you staring at it for hours! The spine of the knife has been nicely rounded for a comfort. Scott's J.S. mark is on the right side of the blade. This fully ambidextrous knife can be easily opened using the 14K gold Dellana dots that are featured on both sides of the blade. These are called 'Dellana Dots' because this innovation was originally developed by renowned knifemaker Dellana. The blade has smooth, consistent action with a firm lockup.
The handle is formed from polished 416 stainless steel that is meticulously inlaid with stunning sections of blue pietersite on both sides of the knife. Natural blue pietersite is particularly rare and desirable. Pietersite is a variety of quartz, combining Tiger's Eye, Hawk's Eye and Jasper. It is characterized by an incredible chatoyancy and brilliance of life within the stone. It was discovered by Sid Pieters in Windhoek, Namibia, and is nicknamed the tempest stone for its swirling storm-like pattern. The frame and backbar are perfectly fit together with no seams or gaps. Scott's maker mark is engraved on the inside of the backbar.
A leather slip pouch is included with the knife to keep it protected while in your pocket.
Exceptional work throughout!
