Description: Bob Lay's designs are well thought through and show an amazing degree of craftsmanship.
The handle on this Classic Hunter is formed from stabilized spalted alder. The mid-toned brown wood has dramatic black spalting lines moving through the grain. Thin black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. This Classic Hunter combines a brass guard with an aerospace grade aluminum butt cap for a perfect balance. Brass brings out warm tones in the handle. The butt cap is completed with a lanyard hole.
By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob creates a knife with grind lines that are very dramatic. The CPM154 stainless steel blade has been heat treated to Rc59 for optimal edge retention and durability. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it! The blade is hollow ground for easy maintenance. A small ricasso makes re-sharpening a breeze.
Accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath, cordura storage pouch, and certificate from the maker.
