Description: This Nordic styled hunter is a tremendous knife by Seattle native, Jeff Driscoll. Driscoll brought his full skill and attention to detail to creating this masterpiece which will feel as at home out in the field as in any collection.
The blade was hand forged by Poul Strande in Viby Sjælland, Denmark. A central bar of 20C carbon steel is surrounded between layers of ladder pattern damascus. The hot nitre blued patterns are extremely dramatic and immediately form a central focus for the piece.
The handle combines a central section of vine maple surrounded by cross-cut woolly mammoth ivory and reconstituted turquoise. Alternating black fiber and fine silver spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. Front and rear bolsters are formed from nickel silver.
The knife is accompanied by a matching sheath formed from curly alder and myrtle burl. The alder was harvested by Jeff's father in the woods on Bainbridge Island, WA. The myrtle burl is from Oregon. The sheath is completed with a leather upper and a braided leather belt loop.
Nice work throughout!
