Description: This drop point hunter shows how Mastersmith Aaron Wilburn's knives combine a refined sense of design into a hard-working, field-use knife.
Like knives by Mastersmiths Burke and Fowler, this knife was pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. The heat treatment follows the formula developed by Fowler and Burke -- a technique that has proven to create some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere. The drop point blade has strong a differential heat treatment line, enhanced by a hand rubbed satin finish. The blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel. Many makers and collectors feel that this is the best steel available anywhere for use as a knife blade.
The handle is formed from a single piece of high-contrast lignum vitae wood. This resinous wood holds up well under heavy use. The handle has been contoured with Aaron's deft touch, swelling to fill the palm comfortably and feeling almost like a natural extension of the hand. A wrought iron guard adds elegant contrast. You’ll have a hard time putting it down! A serious field knife for the avid hunter but sure to feel at home in any collection.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
