Description: Journeyman Smith Erik Fritz's knives have a classic look and feel coupled with an outstanding eye for uniquely detailed materials. This Koa Hunter is a perfect example of his work.
The 52100 carbon steel blade was triple quenched and triple tempered for grain refinement and optimal edge holding. Many makers and collectors feel that 52100 is among the best steels available for knifemaking. When combined with a triple temper and triple quench, as shown in the works of Mastersmith Bill Burke, the results are exceptional. A differential heat treatment results in a soft, supportive spine and a hard, long lasting edge.
A stainless steel guard and nickel silver pin complement the beautiful grain structure of the koa wood handle. Alternating black fiber and stainless spacers assist the knife to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The handle has been sculpted for comfort during long use. A hand-stitched leather pouch style sheath completes the package for a knife which is sure to be a prize in any collection or tremendous use knife. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
