Description: Bob Lay's Bowie knives are very hard to come by. He only makes 2-3 per year. When puts his skill toward creating a Bowie, the results are exceptional, showing off designs that are well thought out and showing an amazing degree of craftsmanship.
At just under 17 1/4 inches, Bob has only made two Bowies of this large size in his career. The 12 inch blade was formed from 440C stainless steel and was hardened to Hrc 57 for exceptional durability and edge holding. Both the clip and cutting edge are razor sharp. By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob creates a knife with grind lines that are very dramatic.
The box elder burl handle has a dramatic, swirling grain pattern that is nicely shows exceptionally well due to the double dyed stabilization. A striped black sheephorn spacer nicely sets the handle off. Both the guard and pommel have been meticulously hand engraved by Kenneth Warren.
Exceptional work throughout.
