Description: It is extremely rare to find scrimshawed knives by Bob Lay. This exceptional example has been in a single private collection since it was first made in 2004. It has been meticulously cared for, having never been used. By all appearances, it could have been made yesterday. Mint condition.
Dark toned English walnut nicely offsets highly detailed mammoth ivory scrimshaw by Guy Dahl. The extremely lifelike black bear stares out into the distance.
The stainless steel guard and butt cap create a perfect balance in the hand. By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob creates a knife with grind lines that are very dramatic. Includes leather sheath with sharpening stone and cordura storage pouch.
