Description: Styled after the knives of William Scagel (one of the best known makers of the early 20th century), this classic swayback hunter has everything that you would expect from ABS Mastersmith P.J. Tomes. P.J doesn't make as many knives has he used to. We were pleased when he told us he had some knives for us at Blade Show this year!
Tomes created this hunting knife as a hard working tool! The blade is hand forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. The blade is distal tapered for a perfect balance. P.J.'s touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
The handle is a downturned section of stag that retains natural texture to provide a comfortable grip. The end cap is a section of ancient walrus ivory. The front of the handle is sealed with a stainless steel guard followed by alternating stacked black fiber and stainless steel spacers.
To keep the knife close at hand, a hand stitched leather sheath is included.
Nice work throughout!
