Description: Dave Skinner brings a refined eye and tremendous skill at the forge to his knives. He continued to be among my favorite South African bladesmiths. Over the last few years, his work has continued to develop a level of refinement that is found in very few knifemakers anywhere in the world.
This utility/hunter is a tremendous example of Skinner’s work. The blade is hand forged san mai. A Shiro 2 carbon steel core is surrounded by layers of stainless steel. A thin nickel layer set in between limits carbon migration and creates a dramatic transition. Shiro 2 ensures a particularly keen edge that is easy to sharpen and hone. The blade features an heirloom quality hand rubbed satin finish.
Stabilized masur birch handle scales are set on the distal tapered full tang. A full tang ensures perfect balance. Handle scales meet seamlessly with satin finished 303 stainless steel bolsters.
This utility knife is accompanied by a custom wet formed cowhide sheath.
Exquisite work throughout!
