Description: Journeyman Smith Erik Fritz makes a great knife at an excellent price. His friendship with Mastersmiths Bill Burke and Wade Colter has been a real boon. Over the years, Burke has worked with Fritz to best understand the ideal geometry for knives and has shared his coveted heat treating techniques for an ultra-high performance blade.
The blade is forged from Erik's own damascus combining 1084 and 15n20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding. The dense pattern is extremely engaging, with lots of movement in the steel. A clear differential heat treatment line show the transition between the ultra-hard cutting edge and the softer, supportive spine. Erik's touchmark is engraved on the left side of the blade.
The handle is stabilized lace sheoak (Allocasuarina spp.), contoured to provide a comfortable grip. This Australian wood is warm toned and has a dramatic figure, making it highly desirable. The handle is fit to a fluted stainless steel spacer and satin finished guard.
To keep the knife close at hand, a tooled pouch style leather custom sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
