Description: Anders Högström is a talented maker from Johanneshov, Sweden. He combines traditional Nordic, Japanese, and medieval styles into one and makes it his own. He is well known for his exceptional fit and finish and well done designs. Just about everything Högström makes is truly one-of-a-kind! This exceptional knife has been in a private collection. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition.
The boot grind 1050 carbon steel blade features a differential heat treatment. The undulating line travelling across the blade was created by a technique Hogstrom borrowed from Japanese swords. The spine was coated in clay prior to quenching. By acting as a heat sink, the clay results in a keen, long lasting cutting edge with a softer, supportive spine. Högström's mark is on the right side of the blade.
The handle combines black buffalo horn with ancient walrus ivory in a dramatic contrasting presentation. The handle is secured to the tang using a domed and textured sterling pin. A central silver spacer helps the handle materials adjust to humidity and temperature changes. The carved, textured and antiqued sterling silver guard completes the handle.
A traditional Swedish leather single seam sheath keeps the knife close at hand.
Exceptional work throughout!
