Description: This exceptional damascus push dagger was made by Ohio bladesmith Justin Chenault. Justin started making knives in 2005. His first foray into smithing was in a high school class where he was tasked with forging a hatchet for camping. After graduating high school, Justin assembled the basics of his own blacksmith's shop. He quickly joined the Southern Ohio Forge Associate (SOFA) which helped him connect with other smiths. Justin is a journeyman smith with the American Bladesmith Society. He won Season 7, Episode 6 of Forged in Fire, proving his skills on national television.
This elegant push dagger is a prime example of his high quality work. Push daggers always evoke a time in history when gentlemen were sure to carry a knife such as this -- for defense or offense -- and the difference between a gentleman and a scoundrel was pretty small.
The damascus blade was hand forged from Justin's own Ladder pattern damascus combining 1095 and 15n20 carbon steels. Showing his incredible skill at the forge, the pattern is almost perfectly symmetrical perfectly complementing the symmetrical dagger grind. Because the blade is forged from carbon steels, We recommend using camellia oil to avoid rust and oxidation.
The handle is premium stabilized amboyna burl secured to the tang with blackened zirconium fittings. Zirconium is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. It is resistant to corrosion and scuffing. The handle provides a comfortable, solid grip.
To keep the knife close at hand, a leather sheath with lizard skin inlay is included. A metal belt clip allows the sheath to be worn on the belt, in the waistband, or clipped inside a pocket or vest.
Exceptional work throughout!
