Description: Mastersmith Henry Torres makes a tremendous knife. He likes to make high performance, hard use knives. His work is influenced by makers such as Mastersmith Bill Burke. With the sheep horn handle and clear differential heat treatment lines, Burke's influence is clearly visible.
The 4-1/2 inch blade is hand forged 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. It features an heirloom quality hand rubbed satin finish. A differential heat treatment line travels along the blade. This shows the transition between the ultra-hard cutting edge and the supportive spine. This technique ensures this knife will have the very best edge holding, combined with strength and durability.
Sheep horn scales are secured to the distal tapered full tang using mosaic pins and a lanyard tube. Sheep horn is a perfect choice for hunting and camp knives. When wet, it does not become slippery and it is amazingly durable. The handle is finished with a stainless steel guard. A lanyard tube is included at the rear if extra retention is desired.
To keep the knife close at hand, a pouch style leather sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
