Description: Chris Sharp of Oxford Forge is based out of Florida and is well known for his high quality slipjoint knives. His fit and finish tolerances rival some of the best traditional knifemakers anywhere. This Single Blade Slipjoint Trapper with Jigged Bone shows Sharp's high attention for small details and features his patent pending integral see-through escutcheon.
The clip point blade is made from CPM-154 stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it while remaining tough and chip resistant.
The blade is perfectly centered with a firm half stop -- easily opened with the right-handed thumb nick. The spring is completely flush in all blade positions.
Handle scales are formed from jigged bone set on stainless steel liners. The scales meet perfectly to the integral 416 stainless steel bolsters. Sharp's patent-pending see-through escutcheon is on the left side handle. Showing an exceptional level of craftsman, the bolster and escutcheon are integral to the liner -- made from one single piece of steel. While requiring an higher level of craftsmanship, this results in superior durability and integrity. Pins throughout have been nicely hand domed.
Excellent work throughout!
