Description: South African knifemaker Andre Thorburn is among the best known knifemakers in the world. For the past 20 years, he has focused on pushing the limits on what is possible in a folding knife. This exceptionally rare drop point hunter has been in a private collection in South Africa. It is a grail knife for many Thorburn collectors. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, Thorburn could have made this hunter yesterday.
The blade features the grind that has made Andre's knives famous. It is a particularly difficult grind to do and has been done here exceptionally well. The blade is 12C27 stainless steel. Like Andre's folders, it is satin finished in the bevels and polished on the flats. It is razor sharp!
Red bushwillow (Combretum apiculatum) handle scales are set on the full tang for strength and durability. This warm toned South African wood has a tremendous swirling figure. A distal taper ensures perfect balance. 303 stainless steel bolsters are polished on the sides and stippled on the surface.
This hunter is accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath, also custom made by Thorburn.
An exceptional find for any Thorburn collector!
