Description: The Southwest Bowie was created by Journeyman Smith Craig Camerer.
The blade was hand forged from W2 carbon steel, ensuring exceptional grain refinement. Craig borrowed a heat treatment technique from the world of Japanese swords. Prior to quenching, the spine was coated in clay. This insulates the spine during quench, resulting in a soft, supportive spine with a keen, hard cutting edge. A turnback at the clip ensures that it is fully hardened so it can be sharpened if desired. Though the clip is not fully sharpened, a couple passes on a diamond rod would have it like a razor. The blade sports a hand rubbed satin finish.
The sambar stag handle is surrounded by a mild steel pommel and S-guard. A copper spacer brings warm tones into the handle.
This bowie is accompanied by a hand stitched, tooled leather sheath.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
