Description: The models offered by Randall Knives have been developed over a period of 80 years from personal experience, extensive research and the study of hundreds of designs submitted by individuals around the world requesting custom-made knives. Each model has been thoroughly field-tested and has proven to be properly shaped and designed for its particular use. Randall knives are 100% hand made and no two are exactly alike. This knife has been kept in a private collection. Both the knife and sheath are in new condition and by all appearances this knife could have beeen made yesterday.
The Sasquatch Bowie from Randall knives was influenced by the knives made by Gil Hibben and Pacific Northwest knifemaker Rod Chappel. The Sasquatch model is the oldest Special Dealer design still produced today. Over the last 44 years, only about 900 of this model are thought to have ever been made. This bowie, which was made in the early 1980s, is marked serial #076. It's exceptionally rare to see one of the first 100 of this model.
The massive 11 inch recurve blade is forged from O1 carbon steel. The blade measures 1/3 inch at the spine and will handle heavy duty chopping tasks with ease. The large swedge stops just short of being fully sharpened. Because the blade is forged from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to oil the blade to prevent rust from forming.
The handle is formed from stacked leather. The large guard and buttcap are formed from polished brass. Red, white, and blue fiber spacers add contrast between the fittings and the handle.
To keep the knife close at hand, a brown leather sheath with a field sharpening stone is included.
This knife is a true piece of knifemaking history that you won't want to miss!
