Description: Robert Waldorf Loveless (January 2, 1929 – September 2, 2010), a.k.a. Bob Loveless or RW Loveless, was an American knifemaker who designed and popularized the hollow ground drop point blade and the use of full tapered tangs and screw-type handle scale fasteners within the art of knifemaking. He is cited by other knifemakers and collectors as one of the most innovative and influential custom knifemakers in the world. For many knife collectors, owning an original Bob Loveless is considered the pinnacle of knife collecting!
This handmade Bob Loveless Improved Handle Utility with Stag is an exceptionally rare and highly collectible knife. The blade features Bob's Lawndale, California football shaped mark on the left side of the blade. The steel is most likely either ATS-34 or 440C based on the maker's mark. The blade has a few very minor marks from going in and out of the sheath.
Stag scales are secured to a distal tapered full tang using loveless style fasteners. Red fiber liners help the stag adjust to humidity and temperature changes. A lanyard can be added to the back of the handle using the lined lanyard hole. The handle is in excellent condition.
The original pouch style brown leather sheath is included to keep the knife close at hand. The sheath is in near-mint condition -- showing just a few marks and appearing (like the knife) to have never been carried.
