Description: Kaj Embretsen's work has a meticulous precision not found anywhere else. Regrettably, it has become increasingly rare in the US and I was exceptionally pleased to recently have him offer us some of his knives.
This utility knife is exceptional. It could easily be a daily carry, but would also be comfortable in nearly any collection.
The hand forged blade combines damscus sides forged from 1870 and 15N20 with a high performance 15N20 carbon steel core. The hollow ground blade is nicely polished. The Embretsen maker's mark is on the left ricasso.
The handle is made from a solid piece of presentation grade black ash burl wood (Fraxinus nigra). It is nicely contoured for a secure, comfortable grip. An antiqued bronze ferrule separates the blade from handle, bringing warm tones out from the wood.
The knife is accompanied by a traditional Swedish leather sheath.
Excellent work throughout!
