Description: Ryan Weeks is a maker from Utah with a passion for building high quality custom knives meant to be used. He started out as a knife collector as a child, which grew into collecting high end custom knives as an adult. This inevitably lead to Ryan's desire to make his own custom knives. Weeks guarentees every knife he makes to perform well and not break during normal use or he will repair or replace it. He also offers free sharpening with all of his knives.
The karambit is originally from the Indonesian archipelago and has found its way throughout South East Asia. Primarily used in the ancient world as a do-it-all knife, modern renditions of this versatile tool have steadily gained popularity and respect within the tactical world. The dramatic shape, finger hole and exotic manipulation has captivated collectors, martial blade practitioners, and knife enthusiasts alike.
The blade is made from W2 carbon steel. Ryan brought in a traditional Japanese heat treating technique called honyaki whereby the spine is coated in clay prior to quenching. The result is a more resilient spine with a keen, long lasting cutting edge. The undulating line travelling along the blade is called a hamon. This technique has exceptional results and shows the maker's skills at their best.
Handle scales are made from black and white marble carbon fiber secured to the full tang using carbon fiber pins. The contoured handle is extremely comfortable in both standard and reverse grips. The large finger hole provides extra grip, though the handle can be comfortably used without it as well.
To keep the knife close at hand, a Kydex sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
