Description: P-O Eklund is one of the masters of the Sami styled knife and regularly receives awards in the Swedish Championships. Seeing his work, it is no surprise.
This knife is truly a one-of-a-kind piece. The blade is formed from twist pattern stainless Damasteel. It was ground by renowned Swedish knifemaker Anders Hedlund. Anders is well known both for his sole-authorship knives and his skill as an engraver.
The handle is very traditional and has a slim oval shape that fits comfortably and securely in the hand. The reindeer antler is polished to bring out natural variations in color. The traditional Sami patterns on the sheath and handle are not scrimshaw, but hand engraving, darkened with alder bark powder. The engraving is very detailed, showing tremendous skill in implementation. Sallow root spacers add a nice contrast. The swirling figure of the sallow root nicely reflects the twisted damascus blade.
The matching sheath combines reindeer antler with a reindeer leather upper. The knife and sheath are accompanied by a reindeer leather storage pouch. Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
