Description: South African knifemaker, Jan Wahl, is a maker to watch. He became a full time knife maker in 2009 and joined the South African Knife Makers Guild in 2012. Jan has excellent attention to detail.
The 4.9 inch drop point blade is made from satin finished N690 stainless steel. N690 is created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. The spine is hand fileworked for a secure thumb purchase.
Arizona desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) handle scales are set on a distal tapered full tang. The dark toned wood is beautiful and has an underlying swirling figure. The scales are nicely rounded to provide a sure, comfortable grip. The scales meet with brass bolsters in an elegant and perfectly performed curve. The bolsters were carved for a beautiful grip. This is a knife you won't want to put down.
This knife includes a vegetable tanned, hand tooled, leather pouch style sheath.
Excellent fit throughout!
