Description: Bladesmith Kevin Slattery hails from Australia. I was very excited when Mastersmith Bill Burke introduced me to his work. Kevin began making knives after taking a weekend knifemaking course and became instantly hooked. It is now his full time job and passion. He even teaches knifemaking classes out of his shop to continue passing on the knowledge that was granted to him.
The 5 inch blade was closely forged to shape from W2 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment ensures a keen, long lasting cutting edge with a softer, supportive spine. After heat treatment, the blade was given an antiqued hand rubbed satin finish. The drop point blade is a perfect choice for use out in the field.
The handle is formed from yellow mallee burl wood (Eucalyptus incrassata). This Australian wood is exceptionally hard and resilient. The light brown, beautifully figured wood is immediately captivating. A brass guard is perfectly fit to blade and handle. A black fiber spacer assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
The knife is accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
