Description: Bladesmith Kevin Slattery hails from Australia. I was very excited when Mastersmith Bill Burke introduced me to his work. Kevin began making knives after taking a weekend knifemaking course and became instantly hooked. It is now his full time job and passion. He even teaches knifemaking classes out of his shop to continue passing on the knowledge that was granted to him.
The damascus drop point blade is forged from 1080 and 15n20 carbon steels to provide exceptional edge retention. The high contrast twist pattern is immediately captivating and draws attention for closer examination. A large ricasso allows the user to choke up on the blade for detailed cutting tasks. Kevin's mark is featured on the left side of the ricasso.
The handle is formed from Budgeroo wood. Budgeroo (Lysicarpus angustifolius) is an Australian hardwood that is no longer available to commercial timber merchants. It is considered to be one of Australia's most beautifully grained timbers. The handle is perfectly fit to the brass guard. A black fiber spacer helps the wood adjust to humidity and temperature changes.
A pouch style leather sheath made by Kevin is included to keep the knife close at hand and protect it during transportation.
Excellent work throughout!
