Cactus Rose was the combined effort of bladesmith Gib Guignard and artist Chuck Burrows. When Gib of CactusForge and Chuck of Wild Rose Trading Co. met via the CKD Forums on the Internet, their mutual interest in the knives and hawks of Frontier America, immediately formed a bond and Cactus Rose was born. Gib's frontier style blades match well with the sheaths and hilts made by Chuck. The result is dramatic.

Gib Guignard passed away in 2006. Gib, who was a third generation blacksmith and knife maker, subscribed to the Neo Tribal way of thinking. His knives are finished with a rustic look which is just like it came from the forge. The bevels are ground, giving the knife blade a two tone look.

Chuck fell in love with Frontier America from the time he first saw Davy Crockett back in the 1950's. When his family moved west in the mid 1960s, he got a taste of the real old time West, working as both a cowboy and a packer. In 1971, he moved to the Pacific Northwest, where he met a group of fellow buckskinners which further whetted his interest in the Western Fur Trade. This interest led to his living for a year in a tipi in the mountains of North Eastern Washington, where he trapped and hunted for a living. His life long love and studies of the Old West continue to this day.
