Description: Bozeman bladesmith Maverik Murdock is an up-and-coming maker to watch. This young bladesmith's attention to detail and devotion to the craft is clearly evident in this exceptional bowie knife. Murdock's knives are inspired by faith and family. His maker's mark shows his initials surrounding a stylized person in prayer. He also marks his knives with three dots, representing father, son, and holy ghost.
Maverik began by forging the blade from his own san mai steel. A 52100 carbon steel core is surrounded by layers of 416 stainless steel. 52100 carbon steel is considered by many knifemakers and users to be among the highest performing steels used in the knife industry. The small crystalline grain of this steel ensures a keen, long lasting edge. The 416 stainless steel cladding is both exceptionally dramatic and provides increased ease of care. A hand rubbed finish lends an heirloom quality to his work. The transition between the dark toned 52100 and silver toned stainless steel is immediately captivating.
The contoured handle is formed from African blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon). Antiqued mild steel fittings surround the jet black wood. The handle is exceptionally comfortable. This is a knife you won't want to put down.
The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled, hand stitched leather sheath, also made by Maverik.
