Description: This folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005.
The drop point N690 stainless blade is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats. N690 is created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to chipping. It is hollow ground for easy, quick touchups.
The blade is easily opened by using the flipper mechanism. It is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth action. The blade runs on the Ikoma Korth Bearing System pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play.
Lightning strike carbon fiber scales are set on bronze anodized titanium liners. Copper wires travel through the dramatic carbon fiber. Bolsters are made from heat colored zirconium. They have hand textured, differentially anodized bands that immediately grab attention. Zirconium is tremendously scuff and wear resistance. The knife will be easy to keep close at hand using the machined titanium pocket clip, which holds a ceramic retention ball. It is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
This folder is a classy and refined piece, unique and not ostentatious. Blomerus is clearly a maker to keep an eye out for. Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
