Description: This exceptional utility knife is the work of Washington State bladesmith Ethan Lee.
the blade was forged to shape from Ethan's own san mai, he began with a 1095 carbon steel core and surrounded this with layers of mild steel. The result is an ultra-high performing cutting edge with softer, protective sides. In addition to this, Ethan differentially heat treated the blade, softening the spine for even more support. The differential heat treatment line, combined with the san mai line is quite captivating.
The handle is formed from a section of presentation grade curly maple. A front section of Acrylester provides a nice contrast. Red fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. A polished stainless steel guard is nicely fit to both handle and blade. The pommel is formed from Ethan's own damascus.
The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled, hand stitched leather sheath.
Excellent work throughout!
