Description: Journeyman Smith Keith Fludder resides in New South Wales, Australia. He started making knives in 1989 is now a full time maker. Keith's knives are works of art that excel in performance.
This Hamon Hunter is a perfect example of his work. The clip point, recurve blade was forged closely to shape. A traditional Japanese clay zone heat treatment results in a dramatic heat treatment line called a hamon. This undulating line shows the transition between the soft, supportive spine, and the keen, long lasting edge.
The presentation grade ringed gidgee (Acacia cambagei) handle is carved to swell at the palm, move into a slimmer waist, and swell again at the end. The handle shows particularly dramatic and tight curling figure. Alternating black G-10 and silicon bronze spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched, tooled leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
