Description: Mastersmith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned bladesmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere.
This tactical compact hawk is made with edge awareness, economy of motion and mobility in mind. This makes it perfect for tight spaces. The head measures approximately 5-1/2 inches from the rear spike to the front face, with a cutting edge of 2-1/3 inches.
Henry used 52100 carbon steel so that this hawk can be relied upon for a keen, long lasting edge. Many knifemakers and knife users feel that 52100 is among the highest performing steels currently used in the knife industry. Torres then cold gun blued it to impart limited rust resistance.
Designed so that the heaviest area rests at the head, the axe's full tang is skeletonized, reducing overall weight. The haft is formed from sculpted green canvas micarta. A top section of desert camo paracord protects the handle from impact and provides a secure, comfortable grip. A brass lined lanyard hole gives you the option to add an extra bit of security.
Accompanied by a handmade Kydex sheath.
