Description: Renowned Japanese knifemaker Kiku Matsuda has been grinding blades for over 40 years and is a 5th generation knife grinder. His unique, dramatic grinds are well known throughout the knife industry. Kiku's skill at the grinder has become legendary.
Rhino shows Kikuo's skill at its best. The OU-31 tool steel blade will have exceptional edge holding. OU-31 is a Japanese PM (powdered metallurgical) steel with micro-fine crystalline structure that embodies many of the best attributes needed for knives. The steel is hardened to 64 Hrc (very hard!) and has more than 3 times the toughness of D2. The blade features Kikuo's famous compound grind -- a high performance Hamaguri-ba (convex) grind at the front and a hollow grind toward the handle. Kikuo's compound grind brings together a very strong edge with a precision cutting edge. The blade features a non-reflective disruptive acid finish.
Carved OD green canvas Micarta scales are set on a substantial full tang. Jimping on the thumb ramp and at the end of the handle provides a wide variety of grips. A lanyard can be added for additional security.
Accompanied by hand fitted Kydex sheath with DOTS belt clip. Exceptional work throughout!
