Description: Will Stelter is an up-and-coming, young bladesmith (17 years old!) from Western Washington. He began making knives in January of 2014 and has been forging since August of 2016. Even without considering his age, his skill, attention to detail, and fit are exceptional!
The blade is forged from W2 tool steel and was given a clay zone heat treatment. This technique, borrowed from Japanese swords, creates a soft, supportive spine, with a hard, long lasting, resilient edge. The undulating line in the steel (called a hamon) shows the transition between the softer spine and the hard cutting edge.
The ironwood handle is nicely shaped for a sure, comfortable grip. It is designed for a three-finger grip. A central copper pin and copper bolster bring out warm tones in the ironwood. The bolster is nicely textured.
This knife includes a horizontal leather sheath hand stitched by Will.
Exceptional fit throughout!
