Description: Johann van Deventer, better known as JD, aims to produce unique knives of the highest degree of craftsmanship. He took up knife making in 2005 and became a member of the Knifemaker’s Guild of Southern Africa by 2007. He works in a one man shop and even builds most of his machines himself! He is clearly a maker to keep an eye on.
This frame lock flipper is an extremely practical EDC -- designed for daily carry and daily use. Weighing in at just 2.5 oz, it is easy to keep close at hand and not even notice it is in your pocket … until it is needed. The gent's front flipper mechanism is designed to be an easy single handed open by rotating with the thumb or first finger.
The blade is formed from N690 stainless steel, a steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. A stonewash finish in the grinds and mirror finish in the flats emphasizes JD's clean grinds.
The handle combines a stonewashed titanium lock side with a carbon fiber scale. This combination ensures the construction is strong, but very lightweight. The handle is completed with a deep-carry titanium pocket clip, mounted for right-handed, tip-down carry.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
