Description: This Mel Nishiuchi folder is a spectacular knife! It was kept in a private collection since it was made, and by all appearances, it is in brand new, unused condition. By all appearances, Mel could have made it yesterday!
The wharncliffe blade is formed stainless ladder pattern damascus. The steel was forged by Devin Thomas beginning with AEBL and 304 stainless steels. The high contrast pattern shows off Devin's skill for tremendous control in the forge. The blade has smooth action and is easily opened with the ambidextrous thumb disc. It was heat treated by Paul Bos.
The scales are pink Wyoming jade (nephrite). Wyoming jade is considered to be some of the finest nephrite in the world, against which material from other deposits must be compared. This stone combines pink and green tones. Mokume gane bolsters were forged from brass and copper. They are dovetailed to the stone scales for a perfect fit. Mel's skill in working with stones is truly exceptional. This, combined with his seemingly infinite store of rare gemstones, allows him to make some of the most unique knives to be found anywhere! The titanium liners and backbar are anodized.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
