Description: This drop point skinner shows a well thought out design and displays an amazing degree of craftsmanship. It will make an elegant camping or hunting knife and will still be a fine addition to any collection.
The blade was hardened by renowned knifemaker, D'Holder and has been double-tempered and cryogenically treated ensuring a keen, long lasting edge matched with exceptional durability. The mirror polished 440C stainless steel blade is precision ground by hand with sharp, clean lines. The spine is hand fileworked in a wave pattern. The thumb rest provides a comfortable and secure rest. With the distal tapered tang, you are ensured a perfect balance in the hand.
Presentation grade stabilized spalted maple burl scales were hand selected for grain and color. The scales meet up to a red fiber spacer which assists the scales to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. By dovetailing the scales to the brass bolsters, Bruce ensures a perfect fit. Mosaic pins and thong tube finish out the handle.
The sheath is handmade for this knife. It was wet formed for a snug fit. The sheath is a pouch design which covers three quarters of the knife's handle. A woven leather thong is provided for easy removal of the knife. The sheath is cut from 8-9 ounce premium cowhide shoulder and is handsomely hand tooled and has been given two airbrushed coats of saddle tan leather dye while the edges and borders were airbrushed with dark brown leather dye to bring out the depth and detail of the tooling. The sheath was treated with two coats of leather sheen for a beautiful, longwearing water repellant surface and finished off with two hand-rubbed coats of Carnauba Creme Wax giving an ultra-rich, deep gloss. The sheath was hand sewn using a double saddler's stich with a double twisting lock.
The maker has even included the original custom wooden form used in the individualized construction of the uniquely beautiful sheath.
