Description: Master Smith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned bladesmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to incorporate Bill's techniques of heat treating, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. With the sheep horn handle, Bill's influence is clearly visible.
The blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. A differential heat treatment line is clearly visible traveling across the blade, showing the transition between the supportive, softer spine and the keen, edge holding steel.
The handle is made from sheep horn using mortised tang construction for strength and durability. Sheep horn is a perfect choice for hunting knives. When wet, it does not become slippery and it is amazingly durable. The handle is completed with mosaic pins and a copper spacer.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
