Description: This Willem Steenkamp custom Tarpon EDC liner lock is a fantastic utility folder. The drop point blade and ergonomic handle are perfectly designed for the task at hand.
Willem was accepted as a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA) in May of 2007. His attention to detail is clearly evident in his knives.
The 3-1/2 inch drop point blade is made from N690 stainless steel hardened to 59HRC with a brushed satin finish. N690 is a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. The blade is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth action. It is easily opened single-handed using the terraced, anodized titanium thumb stud.
The handle is combines presentation grade tamboti (Spirostachys africana) wood with carbon fiber. Tamboti is a very rare, very dense wood native to South Africa. Anodized titanium liners are jewel polished on the interior. The pierced, anodized titanium pocket clip is mounted for tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout! Willem clearly a maker to watch!
