Description: South African knifemaker André Thorburn creates an exceptional folder. The blade is perfectly centered. The flipper opening is easy to use for quick deployment. When combined with the IKBS ball bearing system, the action is exceptional! The Ikoma Korth Bearing System (IKBS) was originally designed to fit balisong knives and uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. This is as smooth as a knife gets!
The clip point blade is formed from stainless damascus forged by Damasteel. The high contrast pattern is revealed in the grinds. The flats are mirror polished, nearly hiding the pattern. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The scales are silver strike carbon fiber that have been nicely domed and polished. This variation of lightning strike carbon fiber uses aluminum wire (rather than copper) woven through the carbon strands. Jimping on the thumb ramp provides a comfortable, secure grip. The gently rounded handle feels sturdy and fills out the hand perfectly. The engraved, anodized zirconium bolsters provide a steadfast grip that is also very beautiful. The engraving creates images of blocks that are reminiscent of Escher's three dimensional illusions. Zirconium is a new material to the knifemaking world. It is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. Zirconium is highly resistant to corrosion. Titanium liners rest against red fiber spacers and have been fileworked and anodized. A black G10 backspacer helps keep the knife light, yet strong. The machined titanium pocket clip is mounted for tip-up carry.
