Description: Raymond Richard's knives have a timeless grace about them that comes from a family heritage of knifemaking and the inclusion of hard to find materials.
The blade is hand forged from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance of any steel, anywhere. Ray is a true master at the forge, regularly teaching other bladesmiths better forging techniques. A differential temper line is clearly visible on the blade, resulting in an edge that is extremely hard, staying sharp through extended use, whereas the spine is softer and supportive. A distal taper ensures that the weight is nicely distributed.
The handle is made from the tine of an elk antler. It is nicely downturned for a comfortable grip. The ferrule and guard are made from antique wrought iron.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
