Description: South African knifemaker André Thorburn creates an exceptional folder. The blade is perfectly centered and has silky-smooth action. The flipper opening is tremendously easy to use for quick deployment. When combined with the IKBS ball bearing system, the action is exceptional! The Ikoma Korth Bearing System (IKBS) was originally designed to fit balisong knives and uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. This is as smooth as a knife gets!
The blade is formed from premium M390 powdered stainless steel for the extreme edge retention, high strength, and the toughness that a hard-use knife demands. Because of its uniform microstructure and stainless properties, M390 is often used in surgical cutting instruments and other applications that require a high finish. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge and has been satin finished in the grinds while being mirror polished on the flats.
The scales are stacked blue G10 and carbon fiber that have been nicely domed and polished. The subtle effect is amazing! Jimping on the thumb ramp provides a comfortable, secure grip. The gently rounded handle feels sturdy and fills out the hand perfectly. The engraved, differentially anodized zirconium bolsters provide a steadfast grip that is also very beautiful. The differential anodizing is particularly elegant. Zirconium is a new material to the knifemaking world. It is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. Zirconium is highly resistant to corrosion. The handle is completed with fileworked blue anodized titanium liners and red fiber spacers. The pierced titanium pocket clip is mounted for tip-up carry.
Exceptional fit throughout.
