Description: This exceptional folding knife was made by South African knifemaker Herucus Blomerus. I was very excited when Andre Thorburn and Andre Van Heerden introduced me to their friend. His work immediately caught my attention. A resident of Pretoria, Herucus (pronounced 'eh-roo-koos') has been a proud member of the South African Knifemakers Guild since 2005.
The drop point stainless damascus blade is mirror polished and the flats and deeply etched in the grinds. This creates a dramatic contrast in the clean, crisp grind lines. The blade has been hollow ground for easy, quick touchups.
The blade has silky-smooth, consistent action with a perfectly centered blade. It is easily opened using the flipper mechanism. It is very easily opened either with a flick of the wrist or by using the flipper mechanism. The IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create smooth action with no blade play.
Warm toned presentation grade desert ironwood forms a nice contrast to the hand textured stainless steel bolsters. Blue anodized, fileworked titanium liners surround the stainless steel back spacer.
Herucus is clearly a maker to keep an eye out for - exceptional fit and finish throughout!
