Description: Haley DesRosiers, alongside with husband Adam, live off the grid in very remote rural Alaska. With no water or power available for 8 miles, aside from the sky, creek, or gas generator, these two truly live off of the land and create hand made pieces meant for serious use!
This hunter's blade is formed into san mai with a core of 1095 carbon steel, well known for its ability to hold a good edge yet still be easy to sharpen. It is surrounded by thin layers of 416 stainless steel. This type of multi-layered construction allows for a very durable blade which combines the performance of carbon steel with ease of maintenance. The best of both worlds! A line where the two blade materials meet is very attractive. core is visible the entire length of the full tang. The blade shape is an aggressive modified tanto with a recurve. The top swedge of the clip point is unsharpened.
A choil is formed where the blade meets the bolsters, offering a secure grip. The bolsters are damascus hand forged by Haley from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels. Sculpted scales of ironwood form the handle, and are securely pinned. A swell in the palm area and a flare at the end result in a comfortable and safe grip in hand.
A very aggressive and functional piece, truly intended for hard use. It is accompanied by a custom brown leather sheath with a black shark skin inlay.
