Description: South African knifemaker Andre van Heerden is well known for making impeccable precision knives. From lockup to fit and finish, Andre's knives are in a league of their own.
The drop point N690 stainless blade is meticulously hand satin finished in the grinds and mirror polished on the flats which shows off clean, dramatic grind lines. N690 is a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds it. The increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. It is hollow ground for easy maintenance.
The blade is easily opened with a simple flick of the wrist or using the flipper mechanism. It is perfectly centered and has silky smooth action -- caused in part by the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create impeccably smooth action with no blade play. While open, the flipper doubles as a finger guard and jimping on the thumb ramp ensures a steadfast purchase.
The handle is shaped from coyote brown G-10 scales matched to carbon fiber bolsters. Rather than end-butting G10 to the carbon fiber bolsters, carbon fiber is inlaid into the G10 for a superior, stronger construction. Anodized titanium liners surround the backbar. The light-weight materials retain a nimbleness that makes this knife feel as though it disappears in the hand despite its masterful size. The pierced titanium pocket clip is mounted for tip-up carry.
