Description: Renowned Japanese knifemaker Kiku Matsuda has been grinding blades for over 40 years and is a 5th generation knife grinder. His unique, dramatic grinds are well known throughout the knife industry. His father runs a small workshop in Seki, grinding blades for production knife makers. Kiku joined his father's business at the age of 15 and learned grinding technique from his father. Kiku's skill at the grinder has become legendary.
The Kukuri is one of Kiku's most massive knives to date. The impressive 12 inch long OU-31 semi-stainless steel blade features Kiku's signature compound grind with a Hamaguri-ba (convex) tip, hollow primary cutting edge, and flat ground swedge. The weight favors the blade to give this piece incredible cutting power and swing. The spine has a generous amount of jimping to allow the user to really thumb-up on the blade for tasks that require a bit more precision. The black carved canvas micarta is comfortable and secure. A lanyard hole is provided on the pommel for the addition of a bit more security should the user choose to do so. The Kiku Kukuri represents Kiku's willingness to bring his impressive style to any design worthy of extreme field use. This versatile edged-tool is the perfect piece to let your inner Ghurka run free, no matter where your journey takes you.
Accompanied by a Kydex sheath.
