Description: Renowned Japanese knifemaker Kiku Matsuda has been grinding blades for over 40 years and is a 5th generation knife grinder. His unique, dramatic grinds are well known throughout the knife industry. His father runs a small workshop in Seki, grinding blades for production knife makers. Kiku joined his father's business at the age of 15 and learned the grinding technique from his father. Over the years Kiku's skill at the grinder has become legendary. He is an avid outdoorsman with a passion for fishing, hiking, and travel.
The Harugasumi is one of Kikuís compact designs aimed at everyday utility in an easy to carry, comfortable format. The blade is made from Kikuís personal favorite, OU-31 stain resistant tool steel, and features his hamaguri-ba (convex) grind, upper swedged, and subtly rounded on the spine. The handle scales are made from two-tone grey-black G10 he carved for traction and comfort while carrying or using. Expertly placed jimping on the spine provides extra traction for the thumb while Kikuís unique lanyard setup ensures extra retention for situations such as cleaning a fish over a stream. A lightweight, compact companion to depend on in any adventure!
Accompanied by a kydex sheath.
