Description: Butch Deveraux has been working under the watchful eye of Mastersmith Ed Fowler and certainly the influence is immediately apparent. He is a graduate of Ed's School of High Performing Knives and shows tremendous skill both in implementation and style.
Like knives created by Mastersmiths Bill Burke and Ed Fowler, each knife made by Butch is pre-tested for edge flex and cutting ability before assembly. The blade has a recurve for practical hunting use. The heat treatment follows the formulas developed by Ed Fowler, which creates some of the sharpest and most long lasting edges found anywhere.
The slender, deeply recurved blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment ensures a keen, long lasting edge, with a strong, supportive spine.
The handle feels so natural in the hand, you’ll have a hard time putting it down. When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable. The spacer is created by taking two sheep horn end cuts and aligning them outward, producing a very pleasing effect.
A serious bird and trout knife or gentleman's Pronghorn for the avid hunter or collector. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
