Description: This dramatic hunter shows the influence of knives by Mastersmiths Ed Fowler and Bill Burke, with the recurved, deep bellied blade shape.
The damascus blade was forged to shape from Aaron's own damascus. The complex feather pattern is both bold enough to grab attention from a distance and to keep fascination when examined up close. The blade is distal tapered for optimal balance.
The clip point blade was differentially heat treated, bringing the edge to critical temperature then oil quenching three times. Many thermal cycles and normalizing steps assure consistent grain structure. The blade was then tempered at 400 degrees twice, for exceptional durability. A cryogenic treatment between tempers enhances the edge holding ability.
The sheep horn handle is nicely shaped and fits comfortably in the hand. When wet, sheep horn does not become slippery, and it is amazingly durable. This sheep horn is jet black and very rare. The spacer is created by taking two black sheep horn end cuts and aligning them outward, producing a very pleasing effect. The handle feels so natural in the hand, you’ll have a hard time putting it down. A serious field knife for the avid hunter or collector.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
