Description: This hunter by Raymond Richard has an ageless sense of grace that is rarely found in knives by other makers. The blade was forged to shape from W2 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment assures that the spine is soft and resilient, whereas the edge is hard and will maintain a keen edge. The spine was coated in clay prior to heat treatment. This technique results in a clear differential heat treatment line called a hamon.
The wrought iron for the fittings were forged from an 1800s era anchor chain. The handle is formed from a section of walnut root burl. The dark toned wood has a spiraled grain structure.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
